A vector is a quantity that has a direction and magnitude. The arrows shown in the picture (left)
represent the different vectors that play a role in this sport. In Lacrosse, a player uses a lacrosse stick to throw a ball at high speeds. If the ball isn't moving at all, the only vector affecting it would be Gravity. After the lacrosse player initiats a thrust, gravity and air resistance both affect the ball. If there were to be no air resistance or gravity, then the ball would keep flying off, as like in space. |
